1949 "BLUE CROWN SPARK PLUG SPECIAL"
This vintage Indy racer is truly a rare find.  The car as pictured here is just the way it looked the last day it came off the track. It has not been restored.  As of this posting this was the last front drive car to win the Indy 500.

The Blue Crown Spc. is powered by a 270 c.i. Offenhauser engine (no supercharger ) which can deliver 12 mpg at racing speeds.  Driver Bill Holland drove this car to victory in the 1949 Indy 500 making only one pit stop!  It still runs like a true champion!!

The  two photos at the top were taken in the owners backyard.  The rest of these shots were taken at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Goodwood, England in the summer of 1998.  If you're not familiar with the goings on at Goodwood, they have a great web site, just search on Goodwood. Very easy to find.
